Since 1911, Jewelers Inc. (formerly known as The Northwestern Jeweler) has been the business magazine for the jewelry industry. It was originally published in Minneapolis/St. Paul but prior to 1936 it moved to Albert Lea where Trades Publishing Company, owned by the Hayek family, published it. The Hayek family owned it until 1987 when both Trades Publishing and The Northwestern Jeweler were sold to an Albert Lea businessman. In October 1991, the name changed from The Northwestern Jeweler to Jewelers Inc. to better reflect the circulation and goals of the magazine.
